The hand print (outlined in red) is an iconic image found in cave art worldwide - this alone boggles my mind - that early humans on every inhabited continent left their mark independently in the same way. The accompanying ‘inscription’, suggestive of writing, is from a cave in La Pasiega, Spain. Upside-down hand number two represents present day humans and a look to the future, with gene fragments, bits of mitochondria and a nod to genetic manipulation, CRISPR, whereby parts of the genome can be removed, added to or altered. All begging the question, what’s next for Homo Sapiens? NEXT IN SERIES
