GUATEMALA 9, CASA FELIZ AND SONGBIRDS
It was a pleasure to be invited to adorn the outside wall of Casa Feliz. Translated this means "Happy House"; what had been an orphanage many decades ago undergoing an amazing transformation into housing for the elderly. Specific info on the images below, this was the first time these 2 local residents had been in a vehicle in their whole life, imagine! The mosaic work done by volunteers on the woman's 'huipil', her handwoven and embroidered blouse is really marvelous. I saw other images of the woman we have named Abuela (grandmother).

Photo reference, we changed colors - the vehicle had an all grey interior which we livened to a shade of lilac.

There will be a frame tile border on this, also the graffiti on the wall will be painted over too.

Perhaps as we get further away from the pandemic we will not recognize the mask on her chin - we left it out in the mosaic. A couple more changes, we gave her a more vibrant blouse, and gave her a blanket on er head rather than bags of cornmeal
