MOSAIC fine ART...aka Abstract Mosaic Art
My metamorphosis from representation to abstraction was a gradual process, evolving from a style that was graphic and illustrative to one that is painterly and non-pictorial. I became more interested in areas of my work that were purely about color and form; my material choices widened resulting in a more textured and sophisticated body of work.
Seven galleries make up this PORTFOLIO section of abstract mosaic art.
I have chosen to only include primarily abstract mosaic art in the category 'fine art mosaics'. While other pieces could be shown here, I feel particularly passionate about these compositions. I created my first fully abstract mosaic in 2009, and was surprised by how much this process resonated with me. In part it is the discovery of making art without the constraints of representation. Coming from a background in illustration, this was never a part of my art experience. For me, abstracts are far more challenging to create and also that much more rewarding when I capture what I intended.
