SCHOOL MOSAIC PROJECTS AND ART RESIDENCIES
I conduct mosaic projects in schools where kids draw the subject matter of the mosaics and then assemble them as well. We work in the indirect method where the mosaics are temporarily placed on sticky mesh, therefore it is fun, clean and proceeds rather quickly. Most residencies are 4-7 days of in-school time. The whole school can be involved, with the youngest grades laying a few whole tiles, and older students, grades 3 and up, using the mosaic tile nippers. This is a wonderful project for adult volunteers and PTO parent participation. If you have specific questions about school mosaic projects or would like a reference, contact me! I work predominantly in my home state of Massachusetts but am also happy to travel. Below are just a few of my mosaic school projects...
A wonderful compilation of a school mosaic project and imagery of the process of Meadow Pond coming together can be viewed here, a great place to check out what a mosaic residency entails. http://www.klschools.org/groups/57967/mpes_news/mosaic
