In the Shadows
Human supremacy and exceptionalism is something we take for granted. What better way to depict it than Leonardo Da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man (c 1490) and the Creation of Adam (c1512) on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel by Michelangelo. However look further and you will find the intention of this work, some of the ways we treat, abuse and disregard animals. My hope is that in the future we re-examine human-animal relationships and give moral consideration to how nonhuman animals ought to be treated. 2023
