The beautiful platter above arrived at my house in pieces, a misfortune of hurricane Irene. The owner was moving to California from Boston, and in a bizarre set of circumstances the moving van was swept away in a flood and most of the truck's contents destroyed. She asked me to give it a new life as a mosaic, my creation is above on the right (dimensions 19" w x 26.5"w). It was indeed quite a process as the platter is 1/4" thick whereas the mosaic tile I use is 1/8" thick. I therefore had to cut each piece in both dimensions. This tool(below) was invaluable in the process as the porcelain is extremely dense and so a challenge to cut.
