Another
idea I got while out for a walk. I was intrigued by the idea of
creating Barbie and her outfits in mosaic. I learned a great deal about this
cultural icon while working on this project, and was fascinated to learn how
closely Barbie's manufacturers try to follow the times. I've represented 5 decades
of Barbiehood. The colored panels on which she stands are from a 60"s era
Barbie tote bag, and the red and white border is the same as used to frame packages
of Barbie clothing. This piece was a challenge to execute - the mosaic
pieces needed to make up the faces were miniscule. |
